What is Bromazolam?
Bromazolam is a triazolobenzodiazepine first synthesized in 1976 but was never marketed. Bromazolam is an analytical reference standard categorized as a benzodiazepine. Bromazolam is the brominated counterpart to the chlorinated drug alprazolam. It was later advertised in the form of a design drug first recognized as such by EMCDDA within Sweden in the year 2016. Bromazolam is a non-subtype specific agonist that binds to the benzodiazepine receptor of GABAA receptors. It has a binding affinity of 2.81nM for the subtype a1, 0.69nM at a2, and 0.62nM at the a5 subtype. 
Uses of Bromazolam
Bromazolam is the Bromo instead of chloro analog of alprazolam and has sedative and anxiolytic effects and other benzodiazepines. Bromazolam is commonly reported in combination with other drugs, including the opioid fentanyl.
