Which material is suitable for a mud pump mainly depends on the ingredients in our slurry.
If there are particulate matter in the slurry, then our pump is required to be wear-resistant, because the wear and tear of the slurry pump caused by the particulate matter is quite severe. Materials with wear resistance mainly include high-chromium alloy, natural rubber, polyurethane and other materials. Among them, high-chromium alloys have relatively good wear resistance. If there are many large particles, it is better to choose high chromium alloy material. Natural rubber and polyurethane materials also have certain wear resistance, but they are not suitable for transporting particles with sharp corners, and the temperature of the slurry should not be too high.
If the transported slurry is corrosive, our slurry pump must be corrosion-resistant. At this time, you can choose A49 material, stainless steel material, natural rubber material, etc. Among them, A49 is used more frequently. Although stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, it is not wear-resistant. If the slurry is also highly abrasive, stainless steel is not recommended. Natural rubber also has a certain degree of corrosion resistance. If the corrosion resistance is not strong, you can choose rubber material.
If there are no particles in the slurry being transported, but only mud, then you can choose a cast iron slurry pump. The wear resistance of this material is not as good as high-chromium alloy and other materials, but it is cheaper. So if there is only mud or sewage in the slurry, choose a cast iron mud pump!
