ADH (Antidiuretic Hormone) Introduction
Antidiuretic hormone is a polypeptide hormone , the main role in the human body is to control the amount of water excreted in urine . Antidiuretic hormone is mainly synthesized in the supraoptic nucleus (SON) and paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus, and is transported to the posterior pituitary gland for storage through nerve axons . Releases antidiuretic hormone into the bloodstream, but current studies have also found that antidiuretic hormone can be directly released into the brain and affect the operation of the central nervous system . Antidiuretic hormone acts on V2 receptors on the membrane of distal convoluted tubules and collecting ducts , which couples Gs protein to adenylate cyclase , resulting in an increase in intracellular cAMP , which activates protein kinase A. The protein kinase Ac activates aquaporin 2, causing it to attach to the apical membrane , forming water channels and increasing water reabsorption. Because the reabsorption of water increases, the blood content in the body increases, which leads to an increase in blood pressure and a decrease in blood osmotic pressure .
