We know that slurry pumps can cause cavitation due to some reasons, which we talked about in the previous chapter. So what symptoms will appear after cavitation occurs? Today we will talk about its symptoms.
1. Pressure fluctuation: The necessary condition for cavitation to occur is that the inlet pressure of the pump impeller is close to or not greater than the vaporization pressure of the pumped medium, which means that cavitation occurs due to fluctuations in inlet pressure.
2. Performance decline: After cavitation occurs, the flow head of the slurry pump will decrease. So when we find that the slurry pump on our site can no longer meet the flow and lift parameters we originally designed, we need to realize that cavitation may occur.
3. Noise and excessive vibration: After cavitation, the slurry pump will make a crackling sound when it is running. When cavitation becomes severe, there will be a strong rattling sound, but the sound is relatively stable and regular. After cavitation occurs, the slurry pump will also have significantly increased vibration. Therefore, we should also pay attention to the occurrence of cavitation at this time.
4. Damage to the flow parts of the slurry pump: Cavitation will cause corrosion of the flow parts, and when the small bubbles burst, the flow parts will be damaged.
The above are several phenomena that will occur after cavitation occurs. If you find that any of the above situations occur, you should pay attention to the possibility that the slurry pump is causing cavitation.
