During the selection process of slurry pumps, we found that some sites are not suitable for horizontal pumps installed with reverse irrigation, so we need to choose submersible slurry pumps or submersible slurry pumps. So what is the difference between these two pumps? Today Pansto Pump Industry will let you know about these two pumps.
Submerged slurry pump means that the pump head of the slurry pump is immersed under the liquid surface and the motor is on the liquid surface. It has a depth limit. Although it is now possible to lengthen the shaft or add a suction pipe to increase the depth required, it generally does not exceed 3 meters. If the on-site depth requirements are high, a combination of an extension shaft and a suction pipe can be used to increase the depth. But there will be certain restrictions. After lengthening, the stability of the slurry pump during operation will become worse. In order to solve this difficulty, we have calculated and designed a bearing bush on the extended shaft to fix the shaft to make it more stable during operation.
A submersible slurry pump means that the entire slurry pump is immersed in liquid, including the motor. Its diving depth is generally determined by the sealing pressure resistance, so the sealing requirements are strict. In addition, its motor is not in the slurry, so the requirements for the motor are also higher. Generally, when a submersible pump fails, there is usually a problem with the motor.
The submersible slurry pump needs to be fixedly installed, so there needs to be an installation platform above the slurry tank. The submersible slurry pump does not need it. You can put it wherever it needs to be, as long as it is in the slurry. However, when a submersible pump works in liquid, it must be ensured that it stands in the liquid, so some sites will be equipped with a crane to lift the pump to ensure its position. This method is suitable for small submersible pumps. If it is a large submersible pump, it will be equipped with a coupling device to facilitate maintenance.
The submersible slurry pump can be evacuated briefly and can work when there is insufficient incoming material. The submersible slurry pump requires liquid to completely submerge the pump body and cannot be evacuated.
Since the motor of the submersible slurry pump is on the liquid surface and the submersible slurry pump is inside the liquid, the motor damage rate of the submersible slurry pump will be higher.
It can be said that both types of slurry pumps have their own advantages and disadvantages. We need to choose a suitable pump based on the on-site usage conditions. Leave professional matters to professionals. If you are unsure about which pump to choose, please contact us.
