Lithium carbonate Li2CO3 is a colorless crystal with a monoclinic crystal structure. It is slightly soluble in water and dilute acid, but insoluble in ethanol and acetone.
In industry, lithium carbonate is used to make other lithium salts, such as lithium chloride and lithium bromide.
Lithium carbonate and its derivatives are extremely important for the production of lithium-ion batteries.
